Building A Top Team Within Momentum

Momentum is excited to have dozens of solo agents as part of our thriving community. Some of them are informally partnering up to share common costs, such as for CRM and admin services. Others – such as Madison Beale and Scott Babbitt — have taken the next step, by establishing a formal team. And Momentum was there to guide and support them.

“Scott and I are very much alike, with dominant personalities, and we came to Momentum as top producers,” said Madison. “We decided to form a team, to split everything 50-50, both our costs and our commissions. Neither of us had ever built a team before, but we decided to try it with help from Momentum.”

“Before we actually agreed to create the team, Scott and I sat down with Jon for about 3-4 hours just to make sure that the two of us had our visions and goals aligned,” Madison noted. “Jon knew that, otherwise, we would have been setting ourselves up for failure. So, we looked at our goals for a year, 5 years, 20 years out. Jon helped us make sure everything lined up, that we understood the detours and shared core values.”

Jon knew a lot about building teams. He’d lived it, and learned a lot from his mistakes. In fact, Jon has professionally coached others on building successful teams, and he wanted to offer the same help to Madison and Scott.

“The goal is to have absolute clarity about how the team will work, to ensure that you are together because you choose to be,” Jon said. “When expectations are clear, that reduces the unknown, the fear, and the risk. If partners don’t respect and listen to each other from the beginning, and don’t open every door, examine every aspect of expectations and function, then some little thing they didn’t discuss could blow them up down the road. And, if there was no clarity about how to get out of the partnership, that could create a legal disaster.”

Working with Jon was crucial to Scott and Madison’s decision to create the Impact Group at Momentum Realty.

“That meeting kind of sealed the deal,” Madison said. “It let us understand that this truly was what we wanted to do. Momentum supported us and helped us consider everything, exit strategies and all. Building this team has been awesome.” 

Jon is thrilled for them. “The Impact Group is performing at an incredible level.
