Community Details at a Glance
Port Tampa City is a historic South Tampa neighborhood built by Henry Plant at the end of his railroad in the 1880s, chartered as a city in 1893 and annexed by Tampa in 1961. Housing is a mix of early-twentieth-century cottages and bungalows plus later infill, in an established, non-uniform neighborhood. It borders MacDill Air Force Base and is next to Picnic Island Park, a bayfront park with a beach, dog beach, fishing pier, and boat ramp. The neighborhood is represented by a voluntary civic association rather than a mandatory HOA, and there is no CDD. The adjacent Westshore Marina District is a 52-acre waterfront redevelopment.
