What did Punta Gorda approve for the AdventHealth hospital?
Gulfshore Business reported that the applicant, AdventHealth Port Charlotte Inc., plans the campus in three phases. The first is a 12-bed, 16,235-square-foot freestanding emergency department. The second expands it to 24 beds and 22,500 square feet and connects it to the hospital. The third is a four-story, 200,000-square-foot hospital with 80 beds and a two-story, 30,000-square-foot medical office building next to it. The development application for all three phases was already approved; the October 28 vote covered parking variances, including six spaces per bed instead of the 1.2 the code requires and paved parking in front of the building. The report put the property cost at $6 million, citing Compass Real Estate.
The campus would restore hospital care inside the city. ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda closed permanently after flooding from Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, according to the same report. No opening date for the emergency department or the hospital was given, so today's listing data reflects today's market, not a construction schedule.
